This is the list of supernatural creatures I promised I'd make... (though it isn't really mine... I give credit to the owner at the bottom)
- Vampires
Though in many ways they are like the Vampires of the old stories, modern-day vampires have adapted to live with sunlight. Vampires are Immortal and can only be killed by a stake through the heart and decapitation. They are immune to all human diseases and do not age. They can be harmed by blessed weapons, and need to drink blood at least twice a month to survive. They are twice as strong and fast as humans, and heal at an accelerated rate. Some vampires have the ability to read or influence minds, transform into a bat, levitate or become temporarily invisible, although it is rare for any vampire to have more than two of these abilities.
The Common Vampire is the best-known of this race and is simply a human that has been Turned by a vampire bite. A child born to two vampiric parents is known as a Vampyre, and often will have stronger abilities than those who have been Turned. Less common is the Dhampire, a result of a complication in the Turning process, or sometimes of a mating between a human and a vampire. The Dhampire has few of the weaknesses of other vampires but ages at a human rate.
- Lycanthropes
More or less the typical story-book werewolf. Lycanthropes (or Lycans) have the ability to change their shape, most commonly to that of a wolf, although other shapes (such as a wildcat or bear) are not unheard of. Even in human form, a Lycan will have the senses, strength and speed of its shift-animal. They are immortal and will not die of old age. They are not immune to disease, but they are highly resistant to it and will heal from all but the most severe wounds in a much shorter space of time than a human.
Silver is fatal to all Lycanthropes and all but the eldest are governed by the moon. Newly-Turned Lycans may also Shift while experiencing strong emotions and cannot govern their animal form well. However, with experience most Lycans canm retain their human mind in animal form. Any injuries sustained in animal form will transfer to their human shape. Some Lycans also have a small aptitude for telepathy.
Lycans have only two variants – the True Lycan, one who was born a Lycan, and the Dire, one who was turned by a Lycan bite.
- Angels
Originally guardians of Heaven, many years ago some Angels came to Earth and lived among its other inhabitants in an attempt to guide humans towards the path of righteousness, although most have forgotten their original purpose. Angels are, naturally, Immortal and can only be killed by an instrument of Hell.
All Angels have wings, which can be hidden at will. They are invulnerable to harm, very strong and fast, and are often very intelligent. Angels have the ability to heal others, teleport and form protective shields around those near them. They also have other abilities including, but not limited to, elemental control, shape shifting and invisibility.
- Fallen
The Fallen are the descendants of the few Angels who took no sides in the war between Heaven and Hell. They were cast out of Heaven for their sin, although they still retain most of their Angelic power.
Like True Angels, they have wings which they can hide at will and they heal far faster than a human. They can live for up to 500 years. They are incredibly strong and fast, but they cannot hold their bursts of energy for long. Not quite Angel, but not Demon either, they are scorned by both races as cowards.
- Demons
Demons – the original nightmare creature. A Demon has both a Demonic and a human form. They are generally incredibly smart and often arrogant. A Demon is immortal and can only be killed by a blessed weapon, although in the cases of some of the stronger demons, a specific object can also do the trick. They are the strongest race, they can teleport and more often than not have some kind of elemental control, the most common being fire.
Demons often have several powerful abilities which include, but are not limited to, flight, telepathy, the power of suggestion (the ability to plant an idea into a persons subconscious), shape shifting, invisibility and possession.
- Half-breeds
Half-breeds are possibly between almost any race, although human-supernatural mixes are the most common. A half-breed is a usually a random mix of traits from each of their sire species, although sometimes one will win out over the other. (example a half-angel/human cross may be a normal human with wings, or an angel without among other things)
(If your character is a half-breed, please state in your bio what races their parents were and what traits they have inherited)
- Kitsune
Kitsune are Japanese spirit foxes. They look everything like real foxes except for the fact that they have special powers and abilities. They are not ghosts, more like a type of goblins. It is believed that in ancient times, the Japanese people and the foxes lived together closely and that foxes were regarded as benevolent creatures. Kitsune are sometimes depicted holding spheres in their mouth or with their tails. Those white balls are called hoshi-no-tama (星の玉)and are thought to be the source of some of, if not all, the kitune's powers. Take away their sphere and you take away their powers, usually, and make then weak as normal humans and have all their weaknesses.
The way you can tell a Kitsune apart from a human is they usually have at least one tail seen. In their fox states they can have up to 9 tails, they grow tails as they age. They also age at 1/5 the rate of humans.
- Fairy or Fae
Fairies are generally described as human in appearance and having magical powers. Their origins are less clear they have been thought to have been dead beings, or some form of demon, or a species completely independent of humans or angels. They usually live in hiding by keeping up a faced.
They are almost like angels cause they protect, and put heath charms and protection charms on people (usually only people they like).
Fairy's or Fae are also considered tricksters, CAUSE they like to play tricks on other supernaturals or human. They find it fun to turn invisible (one of their powers) then pull on someone's hair or trip someone, OR hide their belongings if they leave them out where the fairy's can find them.
Fairy's or Fae have insect like wings, sometimes their wings can be butterfly colored and shaped but mostly they have clear skinny wings.
A Fae's powers tend to come from the elements or light but every once in a while there if a rare Fae born with powers they gain from darkness.
For light Fae's nighttime make them weak, really weak.
For dark Fae's day time make them really weak.
- Valkyries
Valkyries are distant cousins to Angels, though leaning more down a more warlike path than their divine brethren. Like Angels, they are exceptionally long lived and possess wings which can be hidden at will, however, they also possess a spray of feathers behind each ear, the purpose of these sprays is unknown though Scientists from Shadowford back in the Dark Days believed they served either an extra-sensory purpose or aided in flight manoeuvrability. While female Valkyries have been extremely popularised by the media, there are male Valkyries though rarely seen as they spend their time in the Homeland, Valhalla, the 'Heaven' of warriors, having their wargames, enjoying mead and meat and talk of manly things – while the women go out and do the real work. They operate rather like a Lion's Pride.
Exceptionally strong and durable, Valkyries are not as intelligent as their Angelic Brethren but they are sharper and more perceptive while being stubbornly proud and determined to maintain their independence of Heaven – preferring the boisterousness of Valhalla. While Angels enjoy a whole host of extra abilities, the only true power the Valkyrie possesses in common with them is elemental control, typically over fire or lightning though there have been documented incidents of earth, wind, water and even combinations of different elements.
They cannot heal nor form shields as they are the beings who escort the Valiant Dead to Valhalla and the Halls of Odin. It is not their duty to prevent a Warrior from joining them, but to carry them away from the mortal coil, quite usually, they are only visible in their true forms to men and women on the verge of death.
